Input Editor Pane Components

In this pane all properties of components and their free component species are set.

The names of components and component species can be modified. No two components can have the same name. The same holds for species of any kind. Components and their component species can have the same name though.

The type of components and component species can not be modified.

A component is selected by clicking on the appropriate row of the table.

Adding and removing components

A new component can be added by invoking the "Add new component" button. A dialog box will appear that requires the input of the name and the type of the component and its free component species. Pressing Cancel or closing the window will abort the addition of the new component.

The selected component can be removed by invoking the "Remove selected component" button when all of the following conditions are met:

If any of these conditions is not met, the labeling of the button "Remove selected component" will appear in red. Clicking the button will display a message with a listing of all reasons why this component can not be removed. You need to fix all of these violations of the above listed rules before you can remove the component.
Note: If the selected component can be removed, no confirmation is necessary after clicking the button. All of its data (initial and boundary conditions etc.) will be lost.

Initial and boundary conditions

All initial conditions and boundary conditions are displayed for the selected component. Boundary conditions are not assigned to adsorbent components. When the initial concentration is not homogeneous, a spreadsheet editor can be invoked.

A more detailed description of initial conditions is here.

A more detailed description of boundary conditions is here.
