Public Release of HBGC123D, Version 1.1

It is our pleasure to announce the release of HydroBioGeoChem123D (HBGC123D) 1.1, an upgrade of version 1.0 released in March this year. We have corrected a few minor bugs. We have also reduced the memory requirement of the Win32 executable to around 32 MB. Partial Fortran source codes remain available for recompilation and the reconfiguration of memory size to accommodate larger problems. The added features in the release include:

* Time series profile input for velocity and water content: This is useful for simulations of laboratory column experiments with flow interrupts. An example input file is provided.

* A text-based postprocessor PostHBGC that provides an interface between the binary output file of HBGC123D (version 1.1 only) and visualization software such as Excel, Gnuplot, Surfer, and GMS. Both source code and executable for Windows are available.

Additionally, three new sample applications are provided. All of these simulations are based on experiments performed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. They demonstrate the capability of HBGC123D in modeling real experimental data in complex reactive flow cells of undisturbed soils. Documentation, FAQ's, partial source code and libraries, binary executables for selected platforms, and a suite of test examples for the release are accessible through the web site at http://hbgc.esd.ornl.gov/.
